This policy is for visitors to monetalo.com, sellers, their teams and customers of stores built with MonEtalo. It explains which cookies and other trackers are used, what they are for and how you can manage them. It supplements the privacy policy. This English version is provided for convenience; if it differs from the French version, the French version prevails.

A cookie is a small text file saved on your device (phone, computer) by the website you visit. It lets the site remember you from one page to the next: that you are logged in, what is in your cart, which language you chose.

Trackers is the wider term for any technique that reads or stores information on your device: cookies, the browser’s local storage, pixels, device identifiers.

Some trackers are strictly necessary: without them, the site does not work. Others remember your preferences. Others are used for analytics or advertising; these generally require your prior consent.

2. Cookies set by MonEtalo#

MonEtalo only sets strictly necessary or preference cookies. MonEtalo sets no advertising cookies, no social media cookies and no data-resale trackers. These cookies are set by our own domain (first-party cookies) and are not read by third parties.

The session cookie name may start with __Host-: this is an extra protection that prevents any other site from changing it.

These cookies are exempt from consent because they are essential to the service you ask for or simply remember a choice you made. They are never used to follow you on other websites.

3. Browser local storage#

The dashboard also uses your browser’s local storage to remember small display preferences, such as me_order_sound, which records whether you want a sound when a new order arrives. This information stays on your device, is not sent to us and is not used for any tracking. It stays saved until you clear it from your browser.

On stores, local storage also keeps your choice about advertising trackers (me_consent, 6 months), the date of your last visit to count one visit per day without a cookie, and the orders already counted as purchases, so they are not counted twice.

On the monetalo.com site, it keeps the currency chosen on the Pricing page (me-devise) and the draft of your store while you create it (me_onboarding_v2), so you lose nothing if you close the page.

4. Visit statistics, without advertising cookies#

To show sellers how many people visit their store, MonEtalo counts visits without advertising tracking cookies:

  • a visit is counted only once per device per day;
  • visits by the seller’s team are excluded;
  • results are shown as totals (visits, page views, traffic sources);
  • this data is never sold, never shared with advertisers and never used to build a profile.

On monetalo.com, the ambassador space and the seller space, we measure our own audience with an in-house tool, without any measurement cookie or third-party tool: pages read, time spent, reading depth, key clicks, where visitors come from (Facebook, TikTok, ambassador…), device type, network quality and how fast pages show. The visit is followed through the me_session session cookie, and local storage only keeps a “came before” flag (me_seen), with no identifier at all. The IP address is never stored and the anonymous fingerprint that avoids counting the same device twice changes every day. Nothing is measured if your browser asks not to be tracked (“Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”). Visit details are kept 90 days, then only daily totals remain.

5. Stores’ advertising pixels#

With the plans that allow it, a seller can connect their store to their Meta pixel (Facebook, Instagram) or TikTok pixel, to measure the sales from their ads and reach their visitors. MonEtalo only loads these pixels after you agree, in the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no Meta or TikTok script is loaded. You can change your mind at any time with the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of the store.

When you accept, the pixels receive page views, products viewed, add-to-carts, checkouts started and purchases (amount, currency, order number). MonEtalo never sends your name, phone number or email. Meta and TikTok set their own cookies and process this information under their own policies, including in the United States.

5.1 If you are a seller#

By adding a pixel or analytics tool, you become responsible for how it is used. Depending on the law that applies to your store and customers, you must in particular:

  • inform your visitors about the trackers used, their purpose and who receives the data, for example on a “Privacy” page in your store;
  • rely on the consent banner MonEtalo shows for you: never try to work around it;
  • comply with the terms of those tools’ providers.

Sellers’ obligations are set out in the data processing agreement and the terms of use.

5.2 If you are a store customer#

If a store uses advertising pixels, they only load with your consent, which you can withdraw with “Manage cookies” at the bottom of the store. You can also block these trackers from your browser (section 6) or from the ad settings of your Meta, TikTok or Google accounts.

5.3 Embedded videos#

Some stores show YouTube, TikTok or Vimeo videos. Nothing is loaded from these services until you press “Play”. At that point, the video platform may set its own cookies, under its own policy.

6. Managing and deleting cookies#

You can view, block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings:

  • Chrome (Android, desktop): Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies / Site data.
  • Safari (iPhone, iPad): Settings › Safari › Advanced › Website Data; or “Clear History and Website Data”.
  • Safari (Mac): Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data.
  • Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions.
  • Samsung Internet: Settings › Sites and downloads, or Privacy and security › Delete browsing data.

Please note: if you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, you will be logged out, your cart will be emptied and some features will stop working. A referral or ambassador recommendation may also no longer be credited.

7. Changes to this policy#

We will update this policy if we add, change or remove a cookie. The date of the current version is shown on this page. If we ever use trackers that require consent, we will ask for your consent before setting them.

8. Contact us#

For any question about cookies or your data, write to support@monetalo.com. For a question about a store’s pixels, contact the seller first.
